First step: hours and hours of disassembly and pressure washing. It's a messy job, so we let Randy do it. An accident from early in the car's history had actually stretched the frame. We had the unusual job of doing a "frame-push". Then it's important to be sure the sheet metal really fits right before the body is rolled to the paint shop.
Floor pan replacement in process - the seat platform is removed at this point. Once the body returns from the Paint shop, the early assembly processes are the wiring and "guts" inside the dash. Engine is in place and running at this stage, and the new wheels and tires are on. Back seat is done
Trunk lid is on and looks good Hood is on to stay. You'll never see this part. But we made it nice anyway. The refurbished convertible top stack is mounted on the fixture, painted, and the bows are positioned.
Webbing and rear window are where the convertible top installation begins. Then we stretch the actual top over the bows. The car is moving under it's own power for the first time in years. The top stack is finally set into the well, and the final assembly is in full swing.
Carpets, console, instruments . . . FInal adjustments to the top and installing the trim. Setting the seats in place means we are just about done. A real car, out on the road at last!
